Broad Gate, Leeds
Client: DLG Architects / Knight Frank / Broad Gate
Building type: Offices
Commission type: Photography / Interior Aerial Photography / Interior Aerial Videography
Project scope: 15 images (mix of ground and aerial) / aerial video
Commissioned by DLG Architects, Broad Gate sits in a prominent position on the Headrow in Leeds city centre. The fourth floor was unoccupied and is approximately 39,000 sq ft. In other words, a vast space to capture. Given the space was empty, this made photographing it a real challenge.
Given the proportions of the space, my methodology was to extract all areas of visual interest, some of which were the impressive views of historic architecture from the windows. All photography commissioned was of the interior space, the impressively scaled atrium being one of its central features.
The drone was particularly useful in picking up interesting angles within the atrium and providing fly-though footage.
